1 g of drug contains active ingredients:
- Doxycycline hydrochloride - 240 mg
- Colistin sulfate- 500 000 ME.
Doxycycline is bacteriostatic antibiotic, which belongs to the group of tetracyclines. Acts bacteriostatically on the ribosome of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis. The drug has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (Staphylococcus spp., Diplococcus pneumonia, Streptococcus spp., Haemophilus influenza, E. coli, Pneumococci, Bacillus antracis, Clostridium tetani, Clostridium perfringes, Listeria monocytogens, Actinomyces spp., Entirobacter spp ., Klebsiella spp., Salmonnella spp., Shigella spp., Yersinia spp.), as well as mycoplasma, rickettsia and Chlamydia. After oral use of Doxycycline it is rapidly absorbed and reaches peak concentration in blood after 3 hours, and stored there for a long time.
Colistin - antibiotic of polymyxin group, which is synthesized by aerobic spore-forming bacillus Bacillus polymyxa. The drug has bactericidal at gram-negative bacteria (E.coli, Haemophilus spp., Salmonella spp.). Colistin binds to phospholipids of the cytoplasmic membrane, increases its permeability for both internally and for external cellar components, which leads to the destruction of bacterial cells. The drug is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract in small doses. Eliminated from the body mainly in the faeces.
